Meet our co-ops

Thompson Hennessey & Partners is an active participant in the community. Through the Northeastern Co-op program, we engage with local students that have an interest in commercial real estate. The Co-op program allows students to alternate classroom studies with full-time work in career related jobs. One of our founders, John Hennessey, is a Northeastern alumni with personal experience in this learning model. We help students explore their interests in a real-world setting, and foster the next generation of commercial real estate professionals.

MATTHEW PRICCO

Why did you want to intern at Thompson Hennessey & Partners?

I wanted to work with Thompson Hennessey & Partners to explore the real estate industry. I saw a chance to experience and learn about commercial real estate in Boston, which is a major interest of mine. THP provided the opportunity to learn the market, to know the ins and outs of commercial deals, and to be around highly experienced people, which were at the top of my list.

What aspect of commercial real estate you most enjoy?

I am a finance major, so I enjoy the more technical, financial analysis parts of the job. I learned and worked with ProCalc, a lease analysis software, which gave me the financial insight I desired, while at the same time explaining the nuances and processes of commercial real estate transactions. Being able to apply my financial knowledge in the commercial real estate realm is what I enjoy the most.

What did you get out of your time at Thompson Hennessey & Partners?

When I came into this position, I consciously weighed it against my past co-ops, in investments and accounting, to see where I would most fit in. Throughout my time at Thompson Hennessey & Partners, I realized that real estate was exactly where I wanted to be to start my career. Beyond the skills I learned and general knowledge I gained, my greatest takeaway was that THP helped me figure out and definitively choose a career path.

What is your favorite place to hang out in Boston?

The North End.

Where do you want to be in 10 years?

In ten years I want to be working internationally, preferably in real estate investment.

Tell us a fun fact about you!

Both of my eye teeth are fake!

COLIN CUMMINGS

Why did you want to intern at Thompson Hennessey & Partners?

I wanted to intern at Thompson Hennessey because I am extremely interested in pursuing commercial real estate as a career going forward after graduation. I thought THP would be a perfect fit for me because of its size. I think that working at a smaller, boutique firm has allowed me to gain invaluable experience and play a bigger role in the deal process than I would at a larger, corporate brokerage.

What aspect of commercial real estate you most enjoy?

The aspect I enjoy most about the commercial real estate industry is the variety of work. Each day at THP I am doing something different in order to help our team through each transaction process. Additionally, I enjoy the social aspect of the job and the constant interpersonal interaction.

What did you get out of your time at Thompson Hennessey & Partners?

During my time at Thompson Hennessey I got to see first-hand how the commercial real estate brokerage industry works and also gained real industry experience over a variety of real estate transactions. I also learned to use many of the industry standards in research, financial analysis and database management.

What is your favorite place to hang out in Boston?

Fenway Park.

Where do you want to be in 10 years?

In 10 years I hope to working in the commercial real estate industry, whether it be on the brokerage side or the investment side. I think that THP has given me an excellent introduction to the industry and I have gained skills that will help me significantly going forward in my career.

Tell us a fun fact about you!

MICHAEL DICIENZO

Why did you want to intern at Thompson Hennessey & Partners?

The big thing that made me want to work at Thompson Hennessey & Partners is the opportunity to work at a commercial real estate start up with people who have such a long and proven track record in the industry. I was able to work directly with the principals of the company and was exposed to all facets of the real estate process.

What aspect of commercial real estate you most enjoy?

What I most enjoyed was that it’s not really a traditional office job. There were plenty of situations that required time out of the office such as market research, tours, industry events and many more.

What did you get out of your time at Thompson Hennessey & Partners?

Being used as a jack-of-all-trades within the start up allowed me to really narrow down where I wanted to start my career in real estate. Working on several lease analyses, NPV and DCF models really spurred my interest to get into real estate finance.

What is your favorite place to hang out in Boston?

I love to go to TD Garden to see Bruins games.

Where do you want to be in 10 years?

In 10 years I hope to be working as either an Asset Manager or in Acquisitions at a Real Estate fund.

Tell us a fun fact about you!

I am a huge Manchester United fan.
